Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor just "Marvin Gayed" their performance at the 2015 American Music Awards. The two singers shared a kiss in front of their audience and the cameras, triggering dating rumors to erupt between the two.

Even before the speculations get blown up, Charlie Puth gave an interview to set things straight on what exactly happened on stage. The "One Call Away" singer, though remarking that Trainor's quite a good kisser, said that it was a professional and friendly gesture.

"It's kissing your best friend. It's a little tricky, but she's a great kisser." Puth says to Billboard.

What exactly happened on stage was the two performed "Marvin Gaye" at AMA as they started singing and swaying through the song, suddenly the two went at each other for a smooch. It turns out to be a gig, Puth explained it to be reflecting the song's meaning. It turns out there were a lot of making out that happened, as the dancers were also making out as the song hit its climax.

"We're friends and it's all part of my whole vision when I made 'Marvin Gaye,' for people to hear the record and spontaneously make out with each other," Charlie explained. "That was the goal tonight for the live show."

Puth even went out to inform his fans that nothing's definitely going on by tweeting, "Before it begins...we are just friends. so happy to perform with meghan tonight!! thank you for all the love everybody! :)"

It seems that Puth and Trainor just simply got in on onstage, completely engrossed in their intimate song. To conclude everything, representative from the singers has reportedly confirmed to Billboard that they aren't dating and remain to be just friends and partners for the song.

Still, fans are dubiously replying to Puth's tweet still unconvinced that nothing's going on between them despite the multiple statements of the singer. In any case, let's just Marvin Gaye and move on.
