The upper-middle-class African-American family sitcom Black-Ish Season 2 Episode 8 finally puts Andre 'Dre' Johnson's black hair principles into the limelight. The episode paid tribute to the show Empire.

In the eighth episode of Black-Ish, Dre (Anthony Anderson) took viewers to the most important things in his life. In his list are God, hair, his Mama, clean sneakers, shrimp, and brunch in their respective order, Entertainment Weekly shared. But this episode was all about the black hair.

Dre tried to impose to his son the importance of loyalty, moreover to his barber and the black hair. In Dre's belief, a man can only have one barber, as for him it is T. Jackson, and hoped his son will be his long life barber too.

But Junior (Andre Johnson, Jr.) switched chair to the new arrival named Smoke to the dismayed of Dre. Junior had broken the law of customer - barber relationship and Dre was set to teach his son a lesson. Unfortunately for Dre, Junior's new haircut was well liked by everyone on the family, while his, he was embarrassed as it is the worst, Vulture added.

Dre asked T. Jackson to fix his previous haircut but ended up with far worse than the first one. Dre was teased as Lebron James-like hairline and Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) suggested to Dre that maybe Smoke have his hair cut. Junior won't give his father Smoke's number and Dre finally understood that his son is growing up and was developing loyalty to Smoke.

Black-Ish Season 2 Episode 8 also paid a little tribute to its time slot competitor Empire with Mama Ruby (Jenifer Lewis) and Bow arguing over the theme for their Christmas card photo shoot. Of course Mama Ruby won with her Empire theme versus Bow's Winter Wonderland.

Good news for the viewers, Black-Ish will have extra episode for second season, according to Cinema Blend. The same goes for other ABC's comedy shows.

Black-Ish airs every Wednesdays 9.30/8.30c at ABC.
