If Fiat SpA would not get clear labor policies in Italy, the carmaker would move its manufacture of the latest Alfa Romeo models outside its local market.

"The relaunch of Alfa Romeo will continue for sure," Sergio Marchionne, Fiat's Chief Executive Officer,  told the media yesterday in Turin, where Fiat was based. "Italy should decide if they want it to happen in this environment or not as Fiat and Chrysler have several alternatives."

Fiat recently controlled Chrysler Group LLC. It planned to boost its production upscale models in Europe. This would include US$130,000 Maserati Quattroporte and Alfa Romeo sports cars. Through the increase in output, Fiat hoped to end its losses in Europe by 2016. Last year, Fiat's business in Europe lost more than Eur700 million equivalent to US$894 million. The Italian car manufacturer would report a loss of up to Eur1 billion without Chrysler.

Yesterday, the CEO said that Fiat "needs clear and reliable rules". The presence of rules would allow Fiat to invest more projects in Italy.

Not long ago, Fiat signed a contract with PSA Peugeot Citroen to make new vanes. Their deal was worth Eur700 million.
