‘Doctor Strange’ Filming Officially Begins in Nepal; Scott Adkins Confirmed to Join Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton

Scott Adkins of 'Bourne Ultimatum' and 'Expendables 2' fame has joined Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton as well as other Hollywood A-listers for the upcoming standalone film based on the character of the same name. It has already begun filming in Nepal.

According to IGN, martial artist and actor Scott Adkins has joined the cast of the upcoming fantasy-adventure film to star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rachel McAdams. His role has not been announced as of the present. He will reportedly feature in several hand-to-hand combat scenes.

Adkins is best known for his role as Hector on the second 'Expendables' film. The English martial artist and actor also appeared in 'Zero Dark Thirty', 'The Bourne Ultimatum', 'The Pink Panther' as well as 'The Shepherd: Border Patrol'. He won an Action on Film Award for Breakout Action Star for his work on 2010's 'Undisputed III: Redemption'.

The upcoming Marvel film will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Three. 'Doctor Strange' will follow the story of a brilliant yet arrogant neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange and how he is transformed into one of the most powerful superheroes. According to Comicbook.com, the cast and crew of the upcoming film has been spotted on-location in Nepal.

According to Blastr, images released from on-set revealed a shaggy and heavily bearded Cumberbatch walking along Kathmandu's exotic streets and byways. Several Twitter users confirmed the news by posting personally snapped photographs of the English actor in action. Although principal photography has begun Nepal, it is expected to move to London by next month to continue shooting in Pinewood Studios.

'Doctor Strange' is an upcoming superhero film based on the Marvel character of the same name. It is scheduled to be released on November 4, 2016 and is part of the MCU's Phase Three. The fantasy-adventure film will tackle the unusual realm of magic and mysticism of the MCU.
