Yacktman Asset Management is among numerous shareholders at Dell Inc. Yacktman announced support for Carl Icahn and Southeastern Asset Management's proposal to buyout the PC maker. Icahn declared opposition for the privatization deal offered by Michael Dell, founder of Dell Inc.

Yacktman owned a total of 14.8 million shares at Dell Inc. The company said that it believed Dell founder and CEO Michael Dell's offer of US$24.4 billion is depressing the stock. In a statement issued last Tuesday, Yacktman said that the company needed a change in the board of directors. The said change could give significant improvements in the company that would lead to an enhanced shareholder value.

Dell Inc was confronted in a battle between Michael Dell and Silver Lake on one end and Icahn and Southeastern Asset Management on the other side. Icahn and Southeastern proposed a buyout valued at US$14 per share piece while Michael Dell and Silver Lake wanted to take the company private for US$13.65 per share.
