'Finding Dory' will feature the return of Ellen DeGeneres as Dory and will be joined by new cast members Diane Keaton and Idris Elba. The sequel's newly released official trailer showed Dory remembering her lost family and goes in search for them in a new adventure.

According to The Verge, Pixar released the first trailer to the much-anticipated 3D animated film in time for its scheduled release for June 17, 2016. Although the trailer doesn't give away much of the plot, it featured Dory the amnesiac blue tang fish remembering memories of her long-lost family. She then goes in search of them with the help of her friends, including Nemo the clownfish and his father Marlin.

The original voice cast will be returning including Ellen DeGeneres, who is reprising her role as the titular character Dory, as well as Albert Brooks as Marlin the clownfish and Willem Dafoe as Gill the Moorish idol. According to Breitbart.com, Idris Elba, Diane Keaton, Ed O'Neill and Ty Burrell are among the newcomers joining to voice several other aquatic creatures. Alexander Gould, who voiced Nemo in 2003's original film, had to be replaced by Hayden Rolence since his voice deepened and no longer fit the part.

According to The Guardian, the sequel will take place six months following the events of the first film. Dory finds herself recalling childhood memories - specifically of Monterey, California - despite her famous forgetfulness. Pixar's president Jim Morris said that the film is mostly set at the California Marine Biology institute and will introduce new characters such as a beluga whale and an octopus.

Burrell will voice Bailey the beluga whale, O'Neill will voice Hank the octopus, and Keaton will voice Jenny, Dory's own mother. Elba's role in 'Finding Dory' is yet to be announced.

'Finding Dory' is an upcoming 3D animated film by Pixar Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. It is the sequel to 2003's critically-acclaimed 'Finding Nemo' and is scheduled for a cinematic debut on June 17, 2016. It is directed by Andrew Stanton and Angus McLane based on the screenplay and story by Stanton and Victoria Strouse.
