Indian finance minister woos US top execs

Bilateral talks will be held as part of Palaniappan Chidambaram's four day tour with US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew. Chidambaram is the Union Minister of Finance of the Republic of India.

The minister will be meeting top executives from big companies in the United States such as Walmart, Boeing and Lockheed Martin. He will be selling the Indian market, which is suffering quite a bit due to the decline of the Indian currency, to these American companies. His main goal is to attract investments from big time investors in the North American market.

The ministers will meet Walmart Asia's chief executive officer Scott Price, President of Boeing International Sheperd W. Hill, Microsoft's General Counsel and Vice President Brad Smith, and Lockheed Martin International's chief executive officer Pat Dewar.

According to a statement released before the four day trip, "The Finance Minister is likely to discuss the issue of investment by US companies in India especially in infra sector, various policy measures taken by the Government to boost investment in the country and tax related matters among others."
