EMC Corp. announced the acquisition of Aveksa Inc., one of the leading companies in identity and access management (IAM) for businesses.

With the acquisition, Aveksa will be integrated within the RSA security division under the RSA Identity Trust Management product group. This move will enhance the ability of the organizations to convert traditional identity and access management into "scalable situational perimeters," the company statement said.

Art Coviello, RSA Executive Chairman and Executive Vice President of EMC Corporation, said that the rising use of mobile and cloud computing for businesses presents a problem for security organizations to secure assets they have no control over.

"Traditional tools that simply automate IAM leave organizations exposed to the risk of excessive privilege, data breaches and regulatory non-compliance," he said.

Vick Vaishnavi, Aveksa Corp. CEO, expressed optimism about the partnership saying that it's an opportunity for both organizations to pursue solutions to the "ever-evolving access challenges."
