Michael Callahan, Yahoo's top lawyer since 1999, now works at Auction.com as its Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer. Auction.com is an online real estate marketplace.

As the Chief Legal Officer, Callahan was in charge of overseeing everything legal related at the Irvine, Calfornia-based company. This included issues on corporate governance, ethics, legal compliance, government regulations, and intellectual property.

Callahan actually started as EVP and Chief Legal Officer earlier this year. Since then, this former Yahoo employee has been recruiting several other lawyers from the internet giant to help him take care of legal matters and isues for Auction.com's consumers in the US and across the globe. These new recruits, as well as himself, would be joining Auction.com's 700 plus employees.

Regarding his new post, Callahan mention at an interview last week that he was "attracted by idea of disrupting a niche industry that has been largely fragmented and that has been run in a more analog and disorganized way. Furthermore, he stated that "The power of technology to bring speed, transparency and efficiency to how real estate is bought and sold is really compelling. And Auction.com been around for a long time, even though what it's been doing is just now becoming obvious."
