No new expansion for Diablo 3 has been announced at BlizzCon 2015 but fans can look forward to a massive 2.4.0 update for Reaper of Souls coming out shortly and bringing in new legendary items, seasons tweaks, and other exciting changes to the popular RPG.

According to PCGamesN, during the BlizzCon panel, game director Josh Mosqueria and Co. has confirmed the news on Diablo 3 newest and biggest patch ever released for the title in the form of 2.4.0 update for Reaper of Souls. New areas and zones, lots of legendary items including a fresh type of rift being added to a full-packed game.

The all-new zone is referred to as the Greyhollow Island set in Act V and this area is accessible via Adventure mode featuring new enemy types, new events, and bounties to be found. GameSpot expounded that The Ruins of Sescheron will be expanded into the Eternal Woods and Royal Quarters which can now be explored through Leoric's Manor.

Additionally, Legendary items with over 40 new powers will be added via the new patch 2.4.0 but will also remove Seasonal Legendary items. All of these new Legendary items will be available for players who are either playing a Season 5 character or standard one.

Another new feature packed in Diablo 3's upcoming update is called Season Rebirth allowing players to make a conveninent transfer of a character from the previous season to the new one instead of being required to create another new character.

"We're currently in Season 4 at the moment, and that will continue until late December", announces Blizzard. "After that, expect a break of a couple of weeks before Season 5, which will be three months long."

Game Zone summed up the full list of changes that fans can watch out for in Diablo 3 2.4.0 update:

  •  Revised Buff User Interface
  •  New Legendaries
  •  New Feature: Empowered Rifts
  •  New Feature: Set Dungeons
