Fans got to a point of excitement when it was revealed that "Dishonored 2" will focus on Emily Kaldwin, the young empress who was an unplayable character. And while most of them expected a 2016 release, it seems that the game will go through a delay which could push back its release date. Nonetheless, some believe that Bethesda is actually eyeing a flexible 2016 launch date.

According to Crossmap, "Dishonored 2" is originally planned for a release sometime in 2016. However, speculations have emerged that it can take much longer than that. The rumors are believed to come from Matty Schoeder, a YouTube user who was present at the E3 conference. Schoeder reportedly saw something from the presentation of the game's co-director, Harvey Smith. Schoeder noticed Smith talking to the president of Arkane Studios, Ralph Colantonio. The latter is said to announce the development of "Dishonored 2," along with some hints of its possible delay.

The Christian Post, on the other hand, reported that the most notable sign is the removal of "Spring" out of the "Spring 2016" in the game's presentation. With that, it leaves the notion that "Dishonored 2" might just come out late 2016 or, if possible, early 2017.

It is also worth noting that only a single trailer was released for the game, compared to titles such as "Fallout 4," "Metal Gear," and "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" in that time. Nevertheless, reports have it that despite being inevitable, some delays are meant for the best of the game. This is most especially true now that developers are still reportedly sorting out some major glitches and bugs.

Meanwhile, Parent Herald explained that the delay might be because Bethesda aims to have much flexible 2016 launch date. Delaying the release of "Dishonored 2" will reportedly be a good marketing strategy for Bethesda, since if they are to pursue a spring 2016 release, the competition will be quite stiff. Above all, the delay will give Arkane Studios developers enough time to polish their latest game.

Despite these speculations about "Dishonored 2' being delayed, all are but unofficial. In the meantime, fans will just have to keep playing the waiting game.
