Gulf Keystone Petroleum appointed former Glencore chairman Simon Murray as their new chairman. The appointment comes in line with the proposed move of Gulf Keystone to join in the main market.

The Kurdistan-focused oil explorer said in May of plans of splitting the CEO and Chairman roles in line with its attempt to move into a more viable market.

British business Simon Murray, who is also known as a former legionnaire, author and adventurer, sat at the helm of Glencore up until he was replaced earlier this year.

Currently, Gulf Keystone Petroleum is facing demands from shareholders to add four additional directors to the board.

Gulf Keystone Petroleum Limited is a gas exploration and oil company which is based primarily in Kurdistan, Iraq. Headquarters for Gulf Keystone are located in London and Hamilton Bermuda.

Glencore Xstrata PLC is a mining company and a multinational commodity trading firm headquartered in Switzerland.
