Bharti Airtel Ltd is the biggest telecommunications carrier in India. The company has become the fourth largest mobile operator in the world. It is also a leading company in India with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa. Last Thursday, Bharti Airtel Ltd announced that it has raised its stake to 51% in a wireless broadband venture by Qualcomm Inc.

The New Delhi based telecommunications carrier firm did not disclose any information regarding how much payment was made for the raise in its stake. Last year, Bharti Airtel acquired 49% stake Qualcomm's India 4G broadband venture. The raise of 51% added 2% to Bharti Airtel's existing stake in the wireless broadband venture.

Qualcomm is a designer and supplier for semiconductor companies with global market clients. Bharti Airtel said that the other four separate entities that are part of the broadband venture have become its subsidiaries following the stake increase.
