Game Publisher Electronic Arts announced recently that they are adding a free downloadable content for Battlefield Hardline. The expansion is called Blackout and it comes with new maps and weapons.

Posted in the official website of Battlefield Hardline are the plans for Blackout saying it covers noteworthy content. This new content is prepared under a vital theme: the cloak of darkness.

The site teased: "What happens when the lights go out, and criminal and police factions are forced to face off under the slimmest sliver of light?"

Aside from the new maps and weapons, the expansion pack also incorporates the tuned up Spectator Mode. The official website also described the Spectator Mode that allows the player to watch their friends or favorite squad to pull off or prevent the flawless crime.  

Blackout includes (via Game Spot):  

• Two maps: Night Job and Night Woods (night versions of Bank Job and Backwoods)
• 1 new gadget: Night Vision Goggles
• 2 new weapons for all classes and factions: a new version of the RO933 and a new Battle Rifle
• New music, camos, assignments, patches, and more

Game Spot recalled the paid expansions Criminal Activity and Robbery which come before Blackout.

David Veselka quoted game developer Visceral Games saying "We've been operating in the shadows to bring every player a surprise in our upcoming update."

Veselka commented that the idea of Blackout is almost no difference to LA's Night Operations DLC for Battlefield 4. The concept introduced a new gameplay elements while boosting players to reflect new opportunities due to poor visibility.

He even added "A heist taking place at night sounds a lot more likely and should fit in nicely with the game's theme. We'll probably get a better look at the new map remakes soon, but hopefully they're just as dark as Battlefield 4's Zavod 311: Graveyard Shift."

Battlefield Hardline: Blackout will be available soon. EA and Visceral Games will give further announcements as when the release date will be. Blackout requires the full Battlefield Hardline on applicable platforms.
