Since October 21, 2015 is the day that Marty McFly and Doc Brown arrived in the future in 1989 hit sequel movie "Back to the Future: Part II," ride-hailing service Lyft offers New Yorkers a ride in a DeLorean, the time-machine car used in the franchise.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Lyft is running this promo in celebration of the arrival of the protagonists in the future, which is today. The ride provider will run this amazing feature from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in New York City. Users can avail this wonderful experience by using the special "Marty McFly Mode" in the app. This will give the users a 15-minute free ride on the DeLorean.

CNBC reported that Lyft partnered with Verizon to make this promo happen. Verizon's brand creative marketing senior vice president Melissa Garlick said, "We want to give our customers access to exclusive and unexpected experiences, cool apps and new technology."

AM New York writes that there are other promotions during the celebration of this unusual occasion. These promos include the screenings of the original 80s films. There will also be a Blu-ray boxed release of the trilogy. One of the most notable features is the Marty McFly replica Toyota truck showcased in Time Square.

In Lyft's blog, the company reassured the users that the DeLorean rides won't have Flux Capacitors, which is a jest about how the cars won't fly like how they do in the movies. This also means that users won't be able to travel through time despite going 88 miles per hour. 

Lyft is shipping DeLorean model vehicles all over the country to provide this exciting service. However, the brand didn't disclose how many of these vehicles they are releasing. Just like any other Lyft request, these DeLoreans will be matched with users depending on proximity and availability.
