It is said that Microprocessor manufacturer giant Intel will be sharing the distribution task with Qualcomm on the upcoming iPhone 6s' modem chip but, at this point in time, it is rumored that Intel will no longer share the distribution and profit with Qualcomm, as it was awarded solely to the latter.

On a report by Cult of Mac, Intel was taken out of the picture for the incoming iPhone 6s and Qualcomm will be the sole distributor of the modem chip.  However, Intel is not totally out of the picture, because Apple might need additional suppliers in the future, 2017 to be exact, the Apple dedicated tech website added.

According to Apple Insider, Apple has been considering the Intel modem, which is basically similar with Qualcomm's, and might tap the microprocessor manufacturer in the near future, in case Apple will need an additional supplier or suppliers.

On the other hand, The Motley Fool pointed out that a valid reason why Apple might tap Intel's service in 2017, if and when the multi-billion dollar company decides to look for additional suppliers. The tech website compared Qualcomm's MDM9X35, the modem chip that will be fitted inside the iPhone 6s, with Intel's XMM 7260 modem chip, and the two chips do have the same download peaks and upload speed.

Motley Fool pointed out that regardless if Intel will eventually close the deal, the revenue it will generate will not be a game changer for the struggling organization, but regardless, the partnership will always benefit Intel.

The report also added that it is not far from reality that Apple might tap on to the possibility that they might venture of making their own chip in order to complement their own A series processors.

In relation to this Apple news, even before the next Apple flagship devices were out, it is rumored that the consumer electronics giant have poured in a staggering $721 billion on a new technology that Apple is currently looking into. That being said, regardless of what technology would that be, a $721 billion price tag only means massive and revolutionary.

Intel might have lost the potential big revenue off the Apple partnership, but Qualcomm should always be on the lookout because of the fact that Intel might steal this gig from them anytime soon.
