Xiaomi's Redmi Note 2 Sold 800,000 Units In 12 Hours, Makes It To Guinness World Records

In just 12 hours, Xiaomi managed to sell 800,000 Remi Note 2 units which made the China-based company bag the newest record for domestic mobile sales of all time.

Xiaomi launched their Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime smartphones that were packed with the brand new Android 5.0 Lollipop inspired MIUI 7 custom ROM operating system at an event in Beijing, China last week.  GSM Arena pointed out that Xiaomi's flash sale did the trick for them and Xiaomi is planning to have their next flash sale on August 24th.

The record-breaking sale also placed Xiaomi inside the Guinness book of World record for selling a total of 2.11 million smartphones within 24 hours in China, Gadgets NDTV reported.  

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 aside from the MIUI 7 custom ROM is equipped with a MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795 chip with an 8 core 2200MHz ARM Cortex A53 64 bit processor under its hood. Phone Arena also detailed the Redmi Note 2's PowerVR G6200 graphics processor and 2048 RAM and built in 32GB storage. The smartphone's memory is also expandable via microSD, microSDHC, and/or microSDXC.

Redmi Note 2 also boasts its powerful 13MP primary snapper that is equipped with face and smile detection, digital zoom,  self-timer, autofocus, touch to focus and geo tagging. It also has a secondary 5MP secondary camera.

The camera can also take images on burst mode, high dynamic range mode, panorama, macro mode, night mode, scene effects. Aside from its excellent features and fantastic buildup in the market, the Redmi Note's price also played a big part on its success.The Redmi Note 2 smartphone was only priced at $155.

Xiaomi's recent success and 800,000 units sold in just 12 hours prove that it is not just the device but the entire package. The Redmi Note 2 might not be your ultimate smartphone, but with the numbers it produced it is certain that it can surpass the upcoming more expensive ones.
