Xiaomi's success with Mi Note and Mi Note Pro put the company in the phone/phablet world and good thing about Xiaomi, like the big players in the industry, is that they know when to strike the iron is hot. That being said, Xiaomi has introduced their latest phablet offering which are the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus. The question now is would these devices keep up with the previous once? Let us see.

Smartphones said that the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus, like what Apple, Samsung, and Sony is doing for the longest time, did not veer away from the Mi's design, but the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus were thinner at 155.10 mm high, 77.60 mm wide, and has a depth of 7.00 mm. However, it is a bit heavier compared to its kind at 160 grams but this is justifiable due to its improved battery. The improvement can now hold a 3,500 mAh, which gives the phablet a longer life, than the previous once.

Going inside, the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus would run on Google's newest OS the Android 5.1.1, it is decorated with Xiaomi's own MIUI skin, Phonearena said. The only thing that users might bump into the MIUI would be the occasional Chinese characters, but this can be addressed immediately and it is also expected because the phablet's major target is Asia. The Mi 5 will have a 5.2-inh Quad HD resolution display with a 64 but octa-core Snapdragon 810 SoC while the Mi 5 Plus will boast a larger 5.7-inch display while keeping the Quad HD resolution and the Snapdragon 810 SoC processor.

The Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus will also be equipped with 2 very clear cameras. The front panel will have a 4-megapixel camera while the back is 13, according to AndroidPit.

Although there were no confirmations from Xiaomi about the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus' retail price, the website sees Xiaomi's newest babies to be priced at around $400 to $500 which is, not bad for a phablet that can compete with the leading brands. Xiaomi is also looking at the tail end of the year for the official roll out of the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus, but it is still unconfirmed if they will release it in the United States.
