"Gotham" bulked up once with the inclusion of Michael Chiklis who will play as a strong ally of Ben McKenzie's Gordon. Although, Chiklis' character will be a great ally for Gordon, he will eventually become Gordon's powerful enemy on the show. Meanwhile, fans of the young Bruce Wayne will have to watch out for his new love interest in the new season.

Michael Chiklis joins the hit Fox series as a series regular to play the role of Captain Nathaniel Barnes in Gotham City Police Department.

TV Line reported that Barnes, like Gordon, is also unafraid to make enemies in either side of the law. He and Ben McKenzie's character will be sharing the burden of heroism as they form a great ally in the show. However, the site also mentioned that he will eventually become Gordon's "equally powerful enemy" in the show.

More iconic Batman villains will be appearing on the second season of "Gotham" when it returns this fall. We previously reported that Mr. Freeze will be joining the roster of villains on the show to wreak havoc in the fictional city. But fans should also watch out for Robin Lord Taylor's Oswald Cobblepot or famously known as The Penguin and his relationship with Gordon.

During season 1's finale, Jim left Oswald in a very bad state, which could lead to his death although everyone knows how resilient The Penguin is. Taylor hinted the possible ramifications on his character's connection with Jim Gordon after the events in the finale, reports Christian Today.

"I think in the first season he really did want to be friends with Gordon. He said that Gordon was one of the two people he trusted in Gotham City, the other being his mother, of course," Taylor says.

He then added, "I think he was deeply hurt by the betrayal Gordon showed him in the finale. He was going to leave him there to die in a hospital handcuffed to a radiator."

However, he still thinks that although their relationship may be "strained," the Penguin still needs Jim as his ally in order to survive in Gotham.

Meanwhile, young Bruce Wayne, played by David Mazouz, will be getting his own love interest next season. Natalie Alyn Lind was tapped to play Silver St. Cloud, an orphan who also becomes the romantic partner of Bruce Wayne in the comics.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Silver may have her own agenda as well for becoming close with Bruce. She will also be introducing Bruce to her billionaire uncle whom young Wayne will see as a father figure.

"Gotham" season 2 will see a new hero in town in Michael Chiklis Captain Nathaniel Barnes while Bruce Wayne gets his own love interest in the series. The hit series will premiere on Fox this September 21.
