Could The Legend of Korra Still even without Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino? Netflix rumors persist despite cancellation

Ever since The Legend of Korra was cancelled this past December, rumors have popped up all over the Internet claiming that the fan-favorite anime-inspired cartoon could continue in some other format. Netflix or a spin-off series or a movie or something else- there's plenty of options out there. But it may be time to face the facts: is The Legend of Korra really gone for good?

Ask series creators (and the minds behind the original series, Avatar: The Last Airbender) Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, and the outlook doesn't look so good. When last the two spoke about the Avatar universe, they mentioned that they had spent so long on Avatar and then Korra that they needed to focus on something else. "We're all tired and burnt out. We need to move on and take that next step," the two creators said. Even beyond that, the two Avatar creators have split up their creative partnership to work on separate projects in the future, something that can't possibily sit well with Avatar and Korra fans. There's still several Avatar comics being released in the future (and maybe even a Legend of Korra spin-off comic), but things look particularly grim now.

The latest rumors still creep up, however. Now, given The Mindy Projcet's revival at Hulu, some are saying the same could happen to The Legend of Korra (or, that old stalwart, that Netflix could still pick up the show). The one problem, of course, is that The Mindy Project was rescued very soon after the show was originally cancelled. The same can't be said for Korra, which was cancelled months ago and has been cold ever since.

Still, we'll keep on the trailer of Legend of Korra rumors in case something happens. And series do occasionally get revived years later- just look at Arrested Development and Futurama. Stranger things have certainly happened.
