Platinum Games is striking a chord with a lot of video game fans, not just for their work on the Bayonetta franchise, but also for their recently released promotional image that may be hinting at something more.

The picture in question shows Bayonetta, wearing what looks be none other than the Metroid armor as she leans on a bar, according to Nintendo NuggetsUnderstandably, an image like that is almost always going to get tongues wagging all across the video game world, and now people are interpreting the picture to say that Platinum Games may be collaborating with Nintendo to work on a new Metroid game.

It's quite a leap of faith to assume that one image could mean that a new game from such an iconic franchise could be in the works, but the video game world could sorely use a new Metroid title. The picture could also easily be just another promotional photo for Bayonetta.

Platinum Games has previously worked with Nintendo in making Bayonetta 2, so it's not hard to imagine both sides reuniting for another game. In related news, Metroid, or at least gear from the game recently appeared as downloadable content for Monster Hunter 5, according to Digital Spy UK.

The outfit is based on the iconic suit donned by Samus Aran for the Metroid games, and unsurprisingly it is the classic model that has been chosen.

Along with the Metroid Gear, other well-known characters' outfits found in the free downloadable content package are of Street Fighter characters Blanka and Chun-Li, as well as Mega Man, according to Cinema Blend. The Mega Man costume was packaged together with an additional weapon.

Video game fans are always big fans of nostalgic treats, and they are even bigger fans of classic games and franchises done right for the new generation of platforms. Metroid figures to be one franchise that would benefit greatly from the capabilities of the new platforms.
