Next 'Broken Age' act to bring the return of the Thrush? Double Fine's indie game sensation may extend into new franchise

Could we see a third act to Broken Age? The indie favorite from Double Fine was originally pitched as a game with only two acts- that's what it was sold as when Double Fine campaigned for money on Kickstarter and pulled in nearly 3.5 million dollars. But given the game's massive monetary successes, could a third act be on the way? Or maybe even a contuing Broken Age franchise with multiple future sequels?

Given the reviews, not likely. The first act of Broken Age was warmly received by critics and gamers, but the second act has been met with frustratingly poor reviews. As one particularly scathing review describes the game, it's an absolute mess.

"After beginning with such promise, the second half of Broken Age feels like the product of abandonment and neglect. It's as though Double Fine simply went through the motions, investing none of the passion or creativity that made the first act so special."

But what could happen in the third act of Broken Age? The second act ends with (spoiler alert!) Vella and Shay overthrowing the evil Thrush and reuniting the human populations who've been kept apart in the game's fantasy future environment. Could a third Broken Age act see the Thrush return and become even stronger? Perhaps reforming human society doesn't go as peacefully as planned, and a threat from the human race rises up- now Vella and Shay must fight this new threat.

The second act of Broken Age was recently released on April 28, for a number of platforms- PC, Mac and Linux, plus Ouya, iOS, Android, Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita. What do you think? Would you want to see a third act to Broken Age (or even a full franchise?), or did the failings of the second act turn you away from the franchise altogether?
