Last year, there have been numerous rumors on Microsoft's release of their new flagship model, Lumia 940. Much excitement is especially geared on this new phone since this is the first flagship by the company after its acquisition of Nokia in April of 2014.

Speculations have it that this new Lumia incorporates specs and features of the cancelled Nokia model dubbed as McLaren with the model number 1030. Still unclear of its nomenclature, Lumia 940 and Lumia 1030 may mean the same. Recent leaks and rumours about the product centre on its outrageous 50MP camera, a little higher than its predecessor Lumia 1020 with 41 MP PureView camera. However, one industry source reports this 50MP camera project is abandoned and a more realistic scenario is a Lumia 940 with the Mixview camera similar to that of Nokia McLaren. It also houses a 5 MP selfie camera.

ITWire mentions that the Lumia 940 features a 5-inch HD display covered by a Gorilla Glass 4 screen.  Moreover, the caliber of its CPU is unclear since one site reports that the new device is powered by unknown Snapdragon chipset that is dubbed to deliver a clocking speed of 2.7 GHz supported by 3GB RAM. There are also three storage options available from 32 GB, 64 GB to 128 GB.

One of Lumia 940 advanced features is the iris scanner to optimized biometric security for the device and its users. Reports on the features of the abandoned McLaren project includes the cutting-edge Kinect-like gestures; and this is highly rumored to be one of Lumia 940's highlights. This unique technology scatters several very sensitive sensors across the device that makes way for a 3D touch system. It detects orientation and one report suggests that this Kinect-like gesture allows the users to interact with the OS such as zooming the camera lends by merely dragging the fingers along the device's sides.
