After being finally confirmed to be in development last year, there is still no word as to when Kingdom Hearts 3 will be exactly released. With Square Enix seemingly having more focus on yet another one of their upcoming blocbuster offering, Final Fantasy 15, fans of Sora and the gang who are eagerly waiting for their return are most likely not going to see them in 2015.

Rumors are abound, with one saying (with conviction but no evidence) that Kingdom Hearts 3 is set for a February 2016 release, there are no official sources or announcements that point to it.

Neither Final Fantasy 15 nor Kingdom Hearts 3 having any official release announcements yet but since Square Enix appears to be targeting a 2015 release for Fnal Fantasy 15, then it is safe to assume that KH3 will take a step back to let the former sink in. Once that's done, the game developers might have some news by Q3 2015.

Another reason for the delay, according to a report, are technical reasons like the switch from Luminous to Unreal Engine system.

"The technology is moving forward a lot. That's something we've learned from the West, I think, in a big way. We're using Unreal Engine 4 right now, and that really has changed the way we make the game," said game designer Tai Yasue.

The main plot, or premise, will see Sora being assisted by Riku, Donald Duck, Goofy, King Mickey, and other familiar Disney and Square Enix characters. Continuing from Dream Drop Distance, the trio of Sora, Donals and Goofy searches for seven guardians of light and the "Key to Return Hearts in this eighth installment of the series. King Mickey and Riku search for previous Keyblade wielders to stop Xehanort's plan on the balance of light and darkness.

"We're proceeding along with which worlds we'll be selecting for the game," game director Tetsuya Nomura said.

"It's the final episode in the 'Dark Seeker' saga that began with the original KH, and it'll depict the final battle with Xehanort," he added.

Kingdom Hearts 3 release date is to be offically confirmed by Square Enix and set to arrive on Xbox One, PS4, and PC platforms.
