"Destiny," the upcoming MMO first-person shooter, is set to be one of the year's biggest gaming releases. And with that in mind, Sony is trying to use "Destiny" to move as many new Playstation 4 consoles as they can.

It's a smart strategy. And to bolster sales, the company has just announced that "Destiny" wil be released alongside a brand-new white Playstation 4 console. A report about the new console from Gamespot labels its official color as "Glacier White," and the price tag for the new PS4/"Destiny" bundle costing $449.99.

Gamespot also revealed that the bundle would release on September 9, 2014- the same day that "Destiny" is set to drop. The bundle will also come with a similarly-colored Glacier White PS4 controller, and a month-long subscription to the Playstation Network.

Originally, it was not known what regions the white PS4 would be released in, but now we know for certain- it will be coming to both North America and Europe. A video interview with Sony President Shuhei Yoshida, done by Game One, confirmed these details. Yoshida himself said the following:

"In Europe, we're going to launch the bundle with 'Destiny' on September 9th, but after that, later this year, we're going to release the white standalone PS4 as well in Europe."

However, it's not clear if a non-bundled version of the Glacier White PS4 would be released outside of Europe. So far, there has been no concrete news from Yoshida or anyone else from Sony, with another Gamespot story confirming that a non-bundled release was still up in the air.

Sony seems to be assuming that the majority of those buying a new Playstation 4 this year are doing so because of "Destiny," and while they're probably right, it would be in their best interests to eventually offer the white PS4 console without the game bundled with it.
