HBO's gangster drama "Boardwalk Empire" is set to return this fall for its fifth and final season, and fans are anxious to see what the show has in store.

HBO has recently released a 38-second teaser ("One is the Loneliest") for the upcoming season. In the trailer, we see Nucky Thompson looking at the ocean from the boardwalk, and another scene with him looking at the ocean at night.We see glimpses of Al Capone and Nelson Van Alden.

At the end of the trailer is a text that reads: "All empires fall."

Star Michael K. Williams has been kind to the shows fans, giving teasers on social media. He recently posted a photo of himself in costume on Instagram, captioned: "CHALKYS BACK!!!!!!"

In an interview, Williams hinted on a very interesting angle on what fans should expect in the upcoming season--a time jump. "The storyline has jumped seven years [into the future], which is why I have the beard now ... The Depression has set in. The days of the shiny shoes and fancy suits are long gone," he said.

HBO Watch reported: "If we're to take his reply literally (he basically put a date on it!) that would mean the show opens in1930 or later putting it well into the future (6+ years from season 4′s 1924 setting). This isn't anything new as season 3 jumped in time a bit as well."

Last season did not end well for Chalky White, after he lost his his daughter Maybelle. "It ended very badly for Chalky last year ... His family life is no more, and he is desperately seeking Dr. Narcisse to settle old scores."

In an interview at the Late Night with Seth Meyers, Boardwalk star Steve Buscemi (Nucky Thompson) said that the show's end is "bittersweet," but thinks that it's probably time for it to end.

Buscemi said that even he is unsure what will happen to Nucky: "I'm excited to see how they're gonna wrap it up," he said, "I mean they don't really tell me anything."

HBO has not yet revealed exactly when the fifth season will be released, but reports say that it will most likely be aired in September.
