RPS Group buys UK water industry consultancy Clear Environmental for £8.3M

RPS Group Plc has purchased UK-based water industry consultancy Clear Environmental Consultants Ltd. The acquisition deal is valued at £8.34 million in cash, according to RTT News.

Under the terms of the acquisition deal, the four sellers of Clear will remain with the RPS Group together with the rest of its workers, the report added.

Insider Media cited RPS chief executive officer (CEO) Alan Hearne saying: "Clear has an excellent reputation and track record. Its skills will assist RPS penetrate further the growing wastewater market in the UK, as well as providing us with opportunities to offer a broader range of services to other clients."

Clear was founded in 2003 and is currently based in Derby with 90 permanent employees. It also has branches in Sheffield and Glasgow. The company mainly provides services such as urban pollution management, river modeling, sewerage, and ecology. In the fiscal year that ended January 31, 2014, Clear's pre-tax profit amounted to £1.83 million with revenues of £5.61 million, the report detailed.
