Prince William and wife Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, renovated their 20-bedroom apartment in Kensington Palace before they moved in. Reports said that the royal couple's abode featured new amenities which included encrypted WiFi and video cameras. It also had a panic room, three kitchens and two nurseries as well as a daytime playroom and nighttime bedder for their son, Prince George.

InStyle UK reported that the couple would hold a housewarming party on November 26. Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift were said to be among those who will perform in the event, proceeds of which would be given to the homeless.

According to the Business Insider, the total cost of the renovation was under GBP 1.5 million. As far as the specific costs go, the report said a USD 50,000 Persian rug adorned the entrance hall. Although this was loaned from the Royal treasure chest, Business Insider reported that the Duchess of Cambridge also spent USD 129 for a couple of faux furs which could also be found in the room.
