Android vice-president Hugo Barra was said to be leaving Google and moving to Xiaomi, also known as the "Apple of China," according to a report by TechCrunch. This coincided with stories about the dissolution of Google co-founder Sergey Brin's marriage to Anne Wojcicki, co-founder of 23andMe.

A source revealed to Reuters that Brin is currently dating a person with whom Barra had a previous relationship. This incident was said to be unrelated to Barra's departure.

Barra left Nuance as Product Manager and moved to Google for the same position in March 2008. From there, he moved up the ranks to become Vice President of Android Product Management.

A Google spokeswoman had also confirmed Barra's exit. Barra himself wrote a goodbye post on his Google+ account.

Xiaomi co-founder and president Lin Bin announced on microblogging website Sina Weibo that Barra will start as Xiaomi Vice President this October.
