Hormel Food Sales, LLC has announced the voluntary recall of two varieties of Planters products that were produced at one of its facilities in April.

Planters Peanuts Recalled Over Listeria Contamination Concerns

According to a news release from the company, the products are being recalled due to concerns of potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria can cause severe infections in vulnerable individuals, such as young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

Hormel has announced that the recall affects two retailers in five states. It is important to note that there have been no reports of illness associated with this recall so far.

According to USA TODAY, the company has ensured that all retailers who received the affected product have been duly informed.

Additionally, the recall has been brought to the attention of the US Food and Drug Administration.

As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, listeriosis is a severe infection that typically occurs when consuming food that has been contaminated with the bacterium listeria monocytogenes.

The signs and symptoms of listeria infection can vary from person to person and may also depend on which part of the body is affected.

Some people who are in good health might experience symptoms like fever, headaches, seizures, loss of balance, and flu-like symptoms like muscle aches as well as fatigue.
