TikTok had a field day with Balenciaga's latest stint - a "luxury" $4,400 bracelet resembling a sticky tape roll.

The high-end fashion house revealed this unusually pricey accessory during Paris Fashion Week as part of its fall/winter 2024-25 collection. Made to look exactly like a transparent Scotch tape, plastered with Balenciaga branding, the bracelet has sparked both ridicule and admiration online.

Fashion influencers on TikTok, including @highsnobiety, have shared videos mocking the extravagant price tag, with comments poking fun at the brand's penchant for turning everyday items into luxury goods.

Users like @toni.montana97 mock the newly-unveiled luxury bracelet with a dig at its target audience, the rich people. "Balenciaga is a social experiment of selling rich people senseless stuff."

Some also likened it to other common things that can be turned into accessories. "Ah yes, matches the 400 dollar zip tie bracelet," said user @the_lauw_.

However, others took pity on how Balenciaga has become since the death of Cristobal Balenciaga.

Other Balenciaga "Pricey Luxury" Products Drawn From Common Things

Despite being a laughing stock online, Balenciaga remains unapologetic about its eccentric products and will continue its trend of pushing boundaries in the fashion industry.

Interestingly, Straits Times revealed this isn't the first time the brand has courted controversy; past releases include a $2,000 tote bag resembling an Ikea shopping bag and a pair of $1,850 trainers purposely designed to look worn and dirty.

In 2018, Filipinos laughed at Balenciaga's Resort 2018 bags, which resemble the bags commonly seen in Divisoria, a bustling marketplace known for its bargain prices.
