More and more details about "Fear the Walking Dead" surface online every day as it moves closer to its premiere. Latest news includes exclusive photos of the characters with their official descriptions, which revealed the Rick Grimes and Carol-meets-Michonne counterparts of the show.

Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes in "The Walking Dead" is one of the most well-known characters in television right now and AMC has found the Rick Grimes counterpart of "Fear the Walking Dead" in Travis Manawa, played by Cliff Curtis.

Yahoo describes Travis as the group's patriarch, who is protective, pragmatic, and believes anything can be fixed. He tries to stay in touch with his ex-wife, Liza, played by Elizabeth Rodriguez, and their son, Christopher, played by Lorenzo James Henrie.

Travis' current partner, Madison, played by Kim Dickens, is believed to be the combination of Carol and Michonne in the spinoff. Her character is a school's guidance counsellor, which makes her capable of remaining calm during unexpected situation (read: zombie apocalypse). She is also quick to make hard choices for her family's survival.

A month ahead of the premiere of the new AMC TV series, IGN released exclusive photos of Elizabeth Rodriguez and Lorenzo James Henrie as their respective characters together with their descriptions.

Liza is pursuing her dream to become a nurse after her divorce with Travis. She is a hardworking single mother who always prioritizes her son Christopher, who turns out to be rebellious after Liza and Travis separated.

Dave Erickson, executive producer "The Walking Dead" companion series, told Variety that the show will take it easy on flesh-eating and will focus more on family affairs.

"What we are trying to do is start with holding on to the family drama as our main story, and then bringing in the apocalypse into it," Erickson explained.

He added, "As things begin to disintegrate, it's through the perspective and the lens of our core family, seeing this and trying to wrap their brains around it."

"Fear the Walking Dead" will introduce their Rick Grimes and Carol-meets-Michonne characters amidst family drama and zombie apocalypse when the series premieres this August 23 on AMC.
