The Legend of Korra continues to keep up its fan following even after the show's end in 2014. Fans hold out hope for a new series or a spin-off film, potentially headed to Netflix or other outlets. But the future might not be as bright as it seems, according to one piece of news.

Hypable reports that Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, the two co-creators of The Legend of Korra and Avatar: The Last Airbender, have broken up and are no longer working together. The two Avatar creators also admitted that it was extremely unlikely that they'd ever create something else in the Avatar universe. "We're all tired and burnt out," the two explained. "We need to move on and take that next step."

However, Hypable explains that it is possible Konietzko and DiMartino could come back together for a creative union- even if they stress that it will have nothing to do with Avatar or Korra.

What does this mean for Korra's future? It's obviously not good- fans will be disappointed that Avatar and Korra's creators won't be working on future projects. If there are even future projects at all- without Konietzko and DiMartino at the helm, it doesn't seem likely that a Korra spin-off could even get off the ground.

However, several years ago a Korra movie was officially in the works at Paramount. IGN reports that the studio hired seven writers to start scripting the film and also had J.J. Abrams on as a producer. The film would be an animated film and would have a $100 million budget- Paramount compared the film to the Ice Age films and Despicable Me, although that may just be in terms of budget and scope and not the tone of the movie.

Will the Korra movie ever happen? We'll just have to keep an eye out to see- J.J. Abrams might one day comeback!
