Rumor has it that Benedict Cumberbatch may be getting engaged soon after being seen visiting the mother of his alleged girlfriend, Sophie Hunter. Meanwhile, the actor is talking about his gay role in "The Imitation Game."

Mail Online reports Cumberbatch flying to Edinburgh for a visit to Hunter's mother, which could mean several different things. One of the possible reasons for the visit was for Cumberbatch to mention his intentions of marrying Hunter, which has the internet abuzz. With parents divorced since she was a child, Hunter is allegedly close to her mother.

Cumberbatch, who has been reported to have a secret girlfriend months back, allegedly wanted to keep the relationship under wraps just until recently. According to the article, Cumberbatch and Hunter have "gone to great lengths to avoid being seen together in public since they first met in 2009." Despite the lack of public appearances together, Cumberbatch and Hunter was seen arm-in-arm at the wedding of the "Sherlock" actor's friend.

Fashion & Style relays that the two met on the set of "Burlesque Fairytales" and has been allegedly seen at the French Open back in June. In August, they have been spotted at the movies and theater.

No confirmation has surfaced about Cumberbatch intending to get married soon, but the actor has been speaking up about his acting, specifically with a project he will be starring opposite Keira Knightley. Cumberbatch plays Alan Turing in "The Imitation Game," shares Pink News. The film is set during the Second World War and is about the "grandfather of modern computing," with a focus on Turing being arrested for "gross indecency" in 1952.

Cumberbatch shared with NME that Turing "had to suppress his sexuality, make it private, making it something secret" to be true to his character. The actor says that the film will not be showing his sexuality explicitly and will instead be using "subtle storytelling." Turing was convicted for copulating with a man, resulting in him being "chemically castrated" and being denied work at GCHQ. Ultimately, he ended his life via suicide.
