Vin Diesel has announced that 'Riddick 4' as well as a spin-off TV series will be pushed through and that the movie sequel's plot could revolve around Furia. David Twohy returns to pen and direct the sequel and even gave some hints on what fans should expect in the movie.

The 'Riddick' franchise has only pulled in $267 million in total for domestic and international sales. Even with meager profits, Vin Diesel has managed to let the franchise live and push for another sequel. The actor recently confirmed on his Instagram page that 'Riddick 4' is indeed going to happen.

"Last night Our company had a party to launch Our TV division. Very exciting. MERC CITY is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe. Next Month, DT begins writing the next Chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick... FURIA," according to the lead actor's post.

According to Movie Web, What Vin Diesel meant by DT in his post is director David Twohy who has both written and directed all of the three live-action movies and two animated short films('The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury' and 'Riddick: Blindsided') of the 'Riddick' franchise.

Those who have followed the story of Riddick can already feel the excitement when the Fast and Furious leading man mentiond 'Furia' in his post. This means the plot of the fourth installment could be about Riddick's journey back to his homeland.

In a report by Science Fiction, director Twohy gave hints about his writing process and what could be expected in movie and how Riddick's journey to Furia might look like.

"That's where we end up. I know what that movie looks like, I've talked it out. It has all the right notes, it's a great movie. The real question is: what do you do before you get there? Is it a voyage through the Necromonger universe? Do you have to earn the right to return home by some trial of fire? That's what we're talking about doing. Perhaps."

Based on what the director said, the movie would certainly revolve around the challenges that Riddick would face in his quest to finally come back to his homeworld. In the past three movies, Furia has been shrouded in mystery and all that's known about it is that its inhabitants, the Furyans are spiritual warriors that have adapted to the scarcity of light, hence Riddick's night vision eyes.

With Vin Diesel scheduled to shoot for two more film franchises, it seems 'Riddick 4' will not yet go into production anytime soon. As of right now, there is no news yet for the initial release date.
