The 'Uncharted' movie production has been began development in 2008, and has a number of writrer and directors going in and out the revolving door. However, as the production finally found its writers and announced a release date, the hunt for the director is on.

According to Christian Post, the 'Uncharted' film adaptation of the video game of the same name has Mark Boal (Zero Dark Thirty), Cormac and Marianne Wibberley (Charlie's Angel: Full Throttle, Bad Boys 2) on board for the screenplay. Having been under development since 2008, the movie has seen directors David O'Russell, Neil Burger come and go, replaced by Seth Gordon. Gordon also exited the film, leaving 'Uncharted' without a director to this day.

After finally zeroing on writers, Sony is now looking for a director, and things seem to be progressing more than ever. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were offered to write the movie but they decline, with Goldberg explaining that he feels 'Uncharted' will just be another "Indiana Jones." However, he says that if 'Uncharted' finds a way to be different from it, would be "awesome."

In a previous report by Venture Capital Post, Chris Pratt is being considered as the lead actor of 'Uncharted'. Should Pratt join, he will be playing the role of Nathan Drake, and rumor has it that he could be joined by Mark Wahlberg, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Scarlett Johansson and Amy Adams among others.

Fans have expressed their desire for Amy Hennig to be involved in the production of the 'Uncharted' movie. According to Hardcore Gamer, Hennig was the creative director and writer on the 'Uncharted' series, which followed her tenure as video game director and scriptwriter for the 'Uncharted' maker Naughty Dog. She has championed the idea that the "creative direction of a script holds more importance than the graphics of the game" and writers who of games that find "creative expression" will improve their games hugely.

Hennig has been a large part of the "compelling storytelling" of the 'Uncharted' games. It will be a welcome decision for her to be involved and/or oversee Sony's 'Uncharted' movie production to have the games' fans confidence on how the movie will turn. Currently, she is working on a Star Wars game with Visceral Games.

Should the 'Uncharted' movie not suffer anymore setbacks in production and casting, then it will follow its slated release date of June 30, 2017.
