After a not so impressive performance on the drop test, the newly released Samsung Galaxy S5 rebounded and outscored some of its rivals which include the iPhone 6 Plus with regard to battery life.

A report by IB Times confirmed the news that the Samsung Galaxy S5 have outscored the Galaxy Note 4 and the iPhone 6 Plus when the devices were tested for their battery life performance. The result surprised everyone considering that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is sporting a smaller battery than the Note 4 and the iPhone 6 Plus. The battery of the phablet was the biggest concern when it was released because Samsung downgraded from a 3,220 mAh to the smaller 3, 000 mAh battery.

On a separate report by Phone Arena, the winner of the test was the Motorola DROID turbo which lasted 10 hours and 42 minutes. Second on the list was Sony's Xperia Z3 with 9 hours and 29 minutes battery life.

The Note 5 comes in behind the S6 Edge +, with an impressive 9 hours 11 minutes battery life, while the iPhone 6 Plus was 9th on the list with only 6 hours and 32 minutes. The Note 4 was even impressive than the Apple phablet with 8 hours and 43 minutes of battery life.

When it comes to charging the device, the breakaway winner was Asus ZenFone 2 which only needs 58 minutes of charging time while the Note 5 comes in second with 81 minutes. The iPhone 6s Plus. On the other hand, is once again below the list which needs at least 171 minutes of charging time before the battery gets fully charged.

A more comprehensive table was also released by GSM Arena, which shows the total usage hours of the devices on several applications. When it comes to talk time, the Samsung Galaxy S6 lasted for 26 hours and 29 minutes of straight use while the iPhone 6 Plus was outlasted by the Note 4 booking a total talk time of 28 hours and 31 minutes and 23 hours and 49 minutes, respectively.

Since the Note 5 was just recently launched, it was not included on the list, but most of the Samsung devices that was on the list outlasted the Apple devices on most of the categories.

The results of the test only showed that although the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 showed a poor performance on the drop test, it excelled on the most important element of a device, its capacity to perform its function at a certain period of time.
