Fast and Furious 8 is underway, and will soon be part of a trilogy where Paul Walker's brother, Cody, is rumored to star. Vin Diesel's recent Instagram photo also teases Kurt Russell's, Mr. Nobody's return in the upcoming sequel.

With the big success earned by Furious 7, it's not really a mystery why a sequel has been green-lit. However, According to Gospel Herald, producer Neal Moritz reportedly said that the film will not see the late Paul Walker's character, as his character has reportedly moved on. However, it does not mean that it will also be the end for the group since the upcoming movie might also kick start a new trilogy.

In the report, Cody Walker will reportedly be a part of the upcoming trilogy. Long terms plans for the story suggest that the story might make a turn from street racing to a bigger scope of international espionage.

Most of the previous cast members are also said to return in the sequel. As of now, Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, and Dwayne Johnson have been confirmed to  reprise their roles as Dominic Toretto, Deckard Shaw, and Hobbs, respectively.

While it has not been confirmed yet, according to Kpopstarz, Universal is reportedly eyeing on actress Ruby Rose to join the cast in the upcoming sequel. Speculations also suggest that Rose' entry in the sequel might cause trouble in Dominic and Letty's relationship.

Meanwhile, rumors are pretty persistent that actor Kurt Russell's Mr. Nobody might return in the sequel. According to Enstarz, although it has been previously hinted by some members of the cast in the previous months, these rumors especially became more aggressive after Diesel posted a photo in his Instagram account of him and Russell in a scene.

Diesel did not include a caption in the photo but many suggest that it might be a hint of Russell's return. Russell also previously  addressed the issue saying that his character was specially crafted so he can either return or not return in the future movies.

"Because the character has been purposely been treated in a certain way so that he can or can't. The 'can' will be an interesting stretch. It works, because I understand what it is and we came up with it. It's like, 'Oh, wow! That's cool!' If he doesn't, then he doesn't. If he gets killed, he gets killed. That will be for them to determine.

I just wanted to be able to work with them making the best possible character to either be sad he doesn't move on or say, 'Yeah, I want this character to move on -- we need this character to move on.' That sort of thing. I don't know what the situation, with Paul dying, does to that. I don't know," Russell said.

No director has been chosen for the sequel yet, although rumors have it that Justin Lin might return to helm the sequel. Fast and Furious 8 is set to hit theaters in April 14, 2017.
