Iron Man 4 is happening, according to director Shane Black. Robert Downey Jr is also coming back to reprise his role as the billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, Tony Stark although rumors have surfaced that he might be replaced by another younger character as Iron Man.

According to Breathe Cast, Iron Man 4 has been confirmed to happen by director Shane Black. The director also reportedly said that the film will probably see the return of Robert Downey Jr for the titular role.

The delay was reportedly due to the negotiations between Downey and Marvel about the actor's pay, since Downey said to have asked for an increase from his $50 million dollars pay. According to MNR Daily, this request from Downey was said to have been based from the success of the franchise' third instalment which earned $1.22 billion worldwide.

Based on previous reports, Downey was dubbed as the highest grossing actor in both 2013 and 2014 as he earned $75 million from appearances in his movies.

However, rumors have also surfaced and suggest that Iron Man 4 might be the last time Downey will don the costume of the character. According to reports, he might eventually be replaced by actor Ty Simpkins who played the role of Harley Kenner in the previous film.

Although it has not been confirmed yet, Stark's best friend, Happy might also face death in the upcoming movie. Aside from that, reports also suggest that Gwyneth Paltrow is set to return in the upcoming installment of the franchise.

Also, another rumor suggest that the movie might not be released not until after Marvel's phase 3 is over. And because of that, the movie might reportedly not be released in 2019. However, Marvel has not officially commented on the matter yet.

More details about the Iron Man 4 are expected to be released in the coming months.
