Power Rangers Reboot is in the works, but even though production is still in its early stages, several names have already been attached to it. The reboot is also likely to be released as a PG 13 movie after Saban Brands react to director Joseph Khan's short film.

Reboots and sequels to famous and well-loved 90s films and shows have been all the rage in Hollywood these days, and a reboot movie for Power Rangers sure did bring delight to its fans. And although it has not been confirmed yet, several names have been connected to the movie.

Actors Liam Neeson, and Chloe Grace Moretz are some of the names linked to the movie. Also, Sam Claflin was also previously linked to the film when rumors surfaced that he is a candidate to don one of the costumes.  However, according to Cinemablend, Claflin's representative reportedly cleared things out, and said that the actor has not received an offer for any of the roles.

Meanwhile, the upcoming movie might reportedly stick to its PG 13 ranking after Saban Brands react to the gritty short film that was made by director Joseph Khan. According to Cheatsheet, Khan created a 14-minute short film that showed the rangers in their much darker side.

After years of crime fighting during their youth, in the  short film, the rangers are now bitter adults. The short reportedly included much violence and drug-use. Apparently, this did not please Saban as Saban Brands sent takedown notices to the websites where it was shown. However, Saban later gave in, but reports suggest that the upcoming movie might retain its PG-13 rating.

Originally slated for a July 2016 release, the movie was later moved to an early 2017 release date. As reported by MNR Daily the push in the release date might have been done in order to avoid competition from other much-anticipated films.

In their previous release date, the upcoming film would have competed against the Ghostbusters reboot. The Power Rangers Reboot is now set to be released in January 13, 2017. More details about the movie are expected to be released in the coming months.
