'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' official filming dates have finally been revealed. Director James Gunn also teased more character spoilers and shot down rumors on Adam Warlock and Thanos.

Fans can now heave a sigh of relief since filming has been confirmed for February 15, 2016 until August 15 of the same year, according to Spoiler TV. The website did go on to say that dates are subject to change.

In an interview with Movie Pilot, Gunn shared that the character Nebula, played by Karen Gillan, will have more scenes in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'. Casual viewers wouldn't know that she plays a big part in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline in the comic books considering her small appearances in the first film. Nebula is the adopted daughter of galactic warlord Thanos and adopted sister to Gamora.

In the same interview, Gunn also revealed that no other major Marvel character will be appearing in the film - most especially not the hotly rumored Adam Warlock. Gunn said it was "probably a mistake" to include a shot of the cocoon in the Collector's collection in Knowhere as it was only intended as a fun little cameo.

The director and writer also revealed in another interview with Empire that the Star-Lord's father, who will be introduced in the new film, will not be the same character in the comic books. He said, "There have been a lot of documents passed around about who Peter Quill's father is between a select two or three of us... That's been part of the plan since the beginning, that's something I had to work out before we shot the screenplay... It's definitely not the character who it is in the comics, I'll say that much."

There had been speculations that Thanos would most likely turn out to be Star-Lord's father in the movie, but those were challenged by Gunn as well. He said, "He will show up [in the sequel] if he helps our story and he will not show up at all if not. Thanos is not the most important thing in Guardians 2, that's for damn sure. There's the Guardians themselves and other threats the Guardians are going to be facing that are not Thanos."

'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' is set to be released on May 5, 2017. Several characters from the first film are set to reprise their roles in the sequel including everyone in the crew of misfits turned heroes - Chris Pratt as Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, Zoe Zaldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rocket (voice), and Vin Diesel as Groot (voice).
