Android M Released for Developer Preview; Power Solution Confirmed for Additional Features

The latest platform for Google, Android M, debuted for Developer Preview using Nexus 7. The new platform was previously announced at Google I/O 2015 in May.

Rumors speculated of Android M not having to deal with design changes, but Android users will encounter significant updates in the areas of performance. Due to its rising performance, Google has improved software that can focus mainly on fixing bugs.

Google's newly debuted software obtains different area features. According to According to PC Advisor, the following are areas improved in terms of performance: App Permissions, Web Experience, App Links, Mobile Payments, Fingerprint Support and Power & Charging.

Additional features were present in the new platform. First on the list for awaited features was Doze, a power solution created by Google which enabled new deeper-sleep state for devices running Android M. Motion detection is activated when a device is not in use or places the device in power saving-mode. Google devised power-saving feature to bring out a longer spanning two battery life.

Fingerprint sensors are also supported in the new line of software. Not only did the Google concentrated on creating features for unlocking and securing phones but it also innovated a feature that stems Android Pay mobile payments. The feature Android Pay is labeled as API which allows devs to add it to their own apps.

Though Android M was unveiled using a Nexus phone, a latest report by Tech Times acknowledged that not all Nexus models will be getting the update. The most out of the models that triggered affirmation was Nexus 7. Additional reports configured of Google discontinuing any major software updates for Nexus devices that are more than two years old. As a result, Nexus 7 will be removed from its lineup of devices that are eligible for the much awaited Android M.

There have been reported updates considering non-Nexus models acquiring the Android M software. Sony became the first hardware maker to offer the Android M developer preview lately in June.

Sony smartphones and tablets that are certified for the Android M updates are the following: Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact,Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia E3, Xperia M2, Xperia T2 Ultra and the Xperia T3.

Previous speculations were raised about Android M's state of gaining version 5.2 instead of 6.0. Images acquired by Phone Arena notified android users that might reveal first significant clue to Android M. The feature called 'demo mode', described to which clears notifications, simulates a full battery, and generally make the UI presentable for snaps.

Google later announced that the official Android M update will be released sometime in the third quarter of this year.

Google has promised that developers will receive at least two further updates to the Android M preview before it hits the mainstream. The first is scheduled for the end of June, while the second is expected to land towards the end of July.
