Sony Updating for Android 5.1.1 Lollipop; Xperia E4 and E4 Dual wasn't mentioned for update
Sony confirmed Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update for its previously released models. The company indicated that the update will roll out in "late July."
Not all devices will receive the update at the same time, as it will be a staggered rollout depending on each market. In this case, Sony hasn't mentioned updates of models for E series such as Xperia E4 and E4 Dual.
Though it was reported of Sony not confirming updates for the said series, Xperiablog reported of the model's small configuration. The website reported of a small update that has been rolling out for the model's software. Update moves the build number from 11.3.A.2.23 to 11.3.A.2.33. The firmware remains on Android 4.1.1.
Android 5.1 Lollipop is soon to rollout among several Sony Xperia devices. Android 5.1 Lollipop is set to be available first on qualified models released in 2013 and 2014 along with high-class units such as Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 starting the end of July.
Tom's Hardware listed following models that are certified for the said updates. These follows as: Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3,Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z, Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia C3, the original Xperia Z Series, Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua.
Xperia owners with certified devices will receive an alert in their notifications bar when the update is available to them.
Android Lollipop 5.1.1 focuses on performance enhancements and bug extermination. Features most likely to be noticed by consumers include more Notifications menu options for managing their devices' wireless radios, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and a refreshed set of icons for the Settings menu.
Tech Times reported of the company's options with the use of Google's Lollipop release. Some of which that affiliated the improvements are of Increased customization options, camera improvements and even brand new LinkedIn integration.
Other eligible devices released in 2015 were not mentioned for further updates.
