Android 5.1 Lollipop rollout for Moto E confirmed by Motorola: Latest update brings performance stability and fixes bugs

Motorola's Moto E along with the Moto G 4G and Moto X will directly receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop update given that these devices have bypassed Android 5.0. The news was confirmed by the Motorola's Director of Software Management David Schuster. He posted on his Google+ account the direct update to Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Schuster said that Motorola tested the three devices to upgrade in Android 5.0, but they saw the potential of neglected devices from upgrading Android 5.0 leading them to decide that Android 5.1 would be better to upgrade straight in the three devices.

"As some of you might know, we've been testing Lollipop 5.0.2 upgrades on Moto X (1st Gen), Moto E (1st Gen) and Moto G with 4G LTE (1st Gen) in several regions. In parallel, we have started testing Lollipop 5.1 which was recently released by Google. Given the improvements in Lollipop 5.1, we have decided to move all efforts to upgrade these devices directly from KitKat to Lollipop 5.1," he said. 

Motorola struggled to get the update of Android's latest OS version Lollipop 5.1. Android 5.1 Lollipop rolls out for Moto E but their device runs remarkably fast to the point they can compete against the Nexus phones with their Android 4.4 Kitkat. 

Android 5.1 Lollipop rollout for Moto E will resolve the bugs issues and bring improvement of the performance, which is why Moto E, Moto G 4G, and Moto X couldn't install the Android 5.0 due to the compatibility issue.

In India, Motorola has started rolling out the update of Android 5.1 Lollipop to the Moto E(Gen 1), and Lenovo-owned Company rolled out also the lollipop update for the Moto E (Gen 2).

The update is available Over the Air in India. Users should notify them thru receiving the pop-up notification informing of the availability. The update comes with the build number 23.21.15.
