A Mortal Kombat X glitch discovered by a Reddit user allows players to unlock costumes and character skills that are usually obtained by winning matches in the Mortal Kombat X companion mobile application. It is reported that the glitch enables players to copy new skins from different characters whose owners are at the top of the ranking leaderboard.

Below are the easy steps which are verified to work on Windows PC, Xbox One, and PS4 (thanks to Mortal Kombat Kommunity Reddit user BertrandsMate, via Inquisitr.com.).

  1. Browse through the worldwide Mortal Kombat X leaderboards.
  2. Using the list of Overall Leaders as a guide, which shows winning streaks as well as wins and losses, choose one of the top players.
  3. Browse through the player's Kombat history in detail.
  4. Exit the leaderboards, and when asked if you would like to change factions, click either decline or accept. Your choice does not matter, but it is essential that you click one of these options rather than exiting the game without making a choice.
  5. Load into a new fight and the unlocked character skins will be made available to you. Unlocked skins and costumes will permanently remain in your account.

Note that the leaderboards often changes, so, players should do the method on as many characters on the top ranking until they unlock the skins that they want.

Moreover, It is reported that some users were successful in unlocking Mortal Kombat X characters' Injustice Scorpion and Ninja Johnny Cage character skins.

The Injustice Scorpion character skin would normally require the players to complete 100 multiplayer ladders before it would be unlocked. It makes sense that players are now trying this method to see if they can unlock the skins without completing the ladder challenges and matches.

It is cited that news of the glitch and its high success rates among players storm the Twitter  world over the past few days.

Mortal Kombat X is currently available for Windows PC, XBox One, and PS4 while XBox 360 and PS3 versions are set to be released later this year.
