20th Century Fox announced recently that James Dashner's final book film adaptation "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure" will swoop in theaters on February 17, 2016, just months after the release of "The Scorch Trials." Fans of the book series are already anxious if the final movie will stay rooted in its source material. In Dashner's final book, Newt and Teresa, two of the original characters from the first book, will die. Will there be major changes in the film adaptation to change their fate?

Fans who already read James Dashner's "The Maze Runner" series know that in the third book, "The Death Cure," not all the original characters will make it to the end. Fan favorite Newt (played by Thomas Sangster) will face an unusual death. He made a choice to destroy himself to prevent him from losing his sanity. Ultimately, Newt will make Thomas (played by Dylan O'Brien) kill him.

Another character who won't make it to the end of the series is Teresa (played by Kaya Scodelario), the only female Glader in "The Maze Runner" film adaptation. Most fans were upset of her death since her part in the book ended without vindication. She and Thomas had many conflicts during "The Scorch Trials," which caused a huge strain in their relationship. In the end, Teresa died but never got the credit she deserved.

It is very common for film adaptations of book series to veer away from the source material. Will that be the case of "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure"? Will the movie adaptation change Newt and Teresa's fate?

It is likely to happen since that was what happened in another Young Adult sci-fi "The Divergent" series. The film adaptation of "Insurgent" made huge changes which made it look like it's not even based on Veronica Roth's book. Changes in the "The Death Cure" movie could also spring from fans' petition if they would really want to see Newt and Teresa in the end of the film.

"The Maze Runner" series diehards still has to wait for the theatrical release of the next two sequels to see if there are really drastic changes made in the film adaptations. "The Scorch Trials" will hit cinemas this fall while "The Death Cure" is slated for a February 2016 release.

Do you think Newt and Teresa should make it to the end of "The Death Cure" film adaptation? Or should the movie version stick to the book's story? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
