ABC had high expectations forMarvel's  Agent Carter, which had a very strong premise during its initial run. Did the series live up to ABC's expectations? Will there be an Agent Carter Season 2?

The series stars sexy and intelligent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) as an administrative agent working for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) as the men return home from World War II. The sassy Peggy Carter also does secret missions on her spare time.

While Agent Carter had a generally satisfactory run during its freshman episodes when it first debuted on January 6, the series quickly took a nosedive in the ratings. The series had initially attracted a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and garnered 6.91 million viewers. However, the ratings quickly dropped to nearly 25% during its second week and plummeted another 10% during week three. The numbers may have come up quite a bit since then but the numbers are quite low as they are. Last week's episode drew a 1.4 rating in demographics and 4.15 million viewers.

One the other hand, ABC has yet to confirm about Agent Carter Season 2. While Marvel and Disney might have a lot of reason to continue with the series, as far as rating go ABC seems to have little reason to renew the series.

It was even reported that audiences have "avoided" the series despite the heavy promotion by ABC.

"But despite an unspoken Black Widow, the roar of the Howling Commandos and a cameo from Neal McDonough as Dum Dum Dugan from the first Captain America pic and the AC Marvel One-Shot short, it still resulted in zero movement among adults 18-49. As a result, Agent Carter stayed even with last week and was third in its 9 PM time slot." it was reported.

However, ABC Entertainment head Paul Lee said that he was 'optimistic' about the series. Does this mean that a second season is on for Agent Carter? Stay tuned to find out.
