South Korean record label SM Entertainment, home of some of the most popular K-pop acts such as TVXQ, Girls' Generation, Super Junior, SHINee and EXO, is reportedly planning to release solo artists from its stellar lineup of idol groups.

According to Soompi, media outlet Osen recently reported that SM is currently working on the solo debut of some its vocalists and performers. The report claimed the solo releases will begin in January 2015, starting with an artist with exceptional musical talent.

It was previously revealed that Amber, member of the female group f(x) is gearing up for her solo debut. According to Koreaboo, Amber's solo debut is scheduled in February. According to the website, Amber, and the unnamed idol's solo releases will be part of a full operation of solo projects throughout next year.

Koreaboo also pointed out the possibility that the record label will be focusing on their female idols this time around as the agency's solo releases this year were all male idols.

Super Junior-M's Henry released his second mini-album "Fantastic" in July. SHINee's Taemin released his solo mini album "Ace" back in August. Super Junior-M's Zhoumi, meanwhile, released "Rewind" in late October. This was followed by Super Junior's Kyuhyun, who released "At Gwanghwamun," in November. Allkpop noted that the solo debuts of Taemin, Zhoumi, and Kyuhyun proved that they are also individually talented and that there is more to them than being an idol group member.

YG Entertainment, for instance has recently released a number of collaboration projects, from some of its acts including Big Bang, Akdong Musician, as well as solo artists. JYP Entertainment, on the other hand, had solo debuts of Sunmi and HA:TFELT, who are both original members of  Wonder Girls.

Meanwhile, SM Entertainment has not disclosed any detail of these upcoming projects.
