Sports couple Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov faces a tough year as Sharapova remains only number 2 in ranking, while Dimitrov ends up ranking 11th place after a loss from Roger Federer.

According to KpopStarz, Sharapova and Dimitrov are facing a double whammy this year. This is after Sharapova failed to get the world number 1 WTA ranking after exiting early in the WTA Finals. Sharapova finished at rank 2, and apparently without aims to get the number 1 title next year. Instead, she will reportedly be "adding more Grand Slams" to her name.

Z News also adds that instead of looking at her defeat as a bad thing, Sharapova is looking at it as a relief because she can start an off-season break early. Sharapova mentioned plans of heading to Japan before going home to Florida.

While Sharapova is still at the top 2 spot, Dimitrov is farther at number 11 despite his all-time high ranking in April that brought him to ATP tour's 8th place. Unfortunately for Dimitrov, who is nicknamed "Baby Fed," he lost against Federer in the Swiss Open's quarterfinals, bringing down his rank to spot 11.

Despite their poor performances in their respective tennis matches, the relationship of the two doesn't seem affected. IB times even reports of Sharapova wearing a ring that allegedly came from Dimitrov. The ring is posted in Sharapova's Instagram account, but her caption says that the ring has been with her since last year.

While the tennis pro didn't say that it was from Dimitrov, 10balls.com shares that around that time last year both tennis players were in Stockhold where Sharapova's post mentions the ring being from. Sharapova was training in the city after withdrawing her participation from the WTA tour following a shoulder injury and Dimitrov was training with coach Roger Rasheed. Dimitrov eventually won his first World title for ATP in 2013. As for why Sharapova would post the image just recently, it is considered as her "refuting allegations that she and Grigor are not an item anymore," thinks Standart News.
