The first still showing newcomer Jennifer Love Hewitt in "Criminal Mind's" Season 10 was revealed early this week, Enstarz reported.

TVGuide published a photo featuring the actress in character as undercover agent Kate Callahan together with Thomas Gibson, who plays Aaron Hotchner. In the photograph, Hewitt is wearing a professional, plain black top, and is sporting a disheveled bob. Hotchner is seen in his traditional suit and tie getup, his arms crossed and obviously upset over something.

The CBS series' showrunner Erica Messer, was quoted regarding the show's excitement in having Hewitt as a new addition to their cast. She said, "We're thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Jennifer Love Hewitt to our amazing cast. Many of us on the show have enjoyed working with her over the years and look forward to again."

Messer is referring to Hewitt's other work for CBS in her long defunct, but highly-beloved supernatural series "Ghost Whisperer." She led the drama as a woman who has the ability to communicate with ghosts for almost five years. Hewitt had also worked in the Lifetime drama "The Client List" for two seasons.

In a separate interview with TVGuide, Messer teased fans of the series about Hewitt's character. She described Callahan as "smart, charming, and wise for her years."

"Her background is criminal psychology and her passion comes from wanting to make the world a safe place. She's had a lot of personal loss that makes her a patriot and a nurturing figure to those in her personal and work families," Messer continued.

Messer also hinted that Callahan's mystery will be quickly revealed in the show. She added, "The few things that are sort mysterious in the beginning [about her] will be answered pretty quickly on in the season."

LJoe Mantegna, who plays the role of David Rossi on the series, took to Twitter about Hewitt being the perfect addition to the cast since the departure of Jeanne Tripplehorn, who played Alex Blake in the series. The actor's tweet read, "At the read through yesterday for our first ep, @TheReal_Jlh fit right in and her character is the perfect addition. @CM_SetReport." 

"Criminal Minds" Season 10 will premiere on October 1 on CBS.
